Things to Remember

Sometimes in life, we may all feel a little stuck.  Personally, I tend to lack patience and it causes me anxiety.  Large life movements may require immense effort and move at a snail’s pace.  I put together a short list of things to remember.

  • Put yourself first.  I know it sounds awkward.   This is not generally what we have been taught.  Let me explain why.  You must put yourself first so that you have more of yourself to give.  Mental health is important.  You are worthy of enjoying the life you are building and you must continue to build for yourself.  This is not selfish, this is how you truly benefit others.  When you take care of yourself, you have more to give.
  • You alone are responsible for your own happiness.  Do not look to your spouse, children or anyone else to bring you happiness.   This is the quickest way to bring sorrow to everyone.
  • Find peace in independence and pursuing your own hobbies.  Distance yourself from people that attempt to control you and don’t allow you freedom.
  • Vacations are important. Let’s live and engage in self preservation.  Escape this rat race when you can.  You need to recharge.
  • What other people think of you is none of your business.  I’m sure you have heard this before, but it is helpful to explore again.  The opinions of others will die when you starve them of attention.  Consider the source.  The only people that slander are people that want you to fail.  Frankly, what does that say about them?  We are put here to build one another up, not tear one another down.
  • Do not attempt to win every argument.  It doesn’t matter.  Understand that any profound statement you make will probably be ignored.
  • Focus.  Do not underestimate the power of focus.  What you focus on will come to be.
  • Even small steps count!  Maintain focus and move forward.
  • Motivation doesn’t count.  As we have discussed before, it can be fleeting.  Consistency counts.  You have to work on yourself and your goals even when you don’t want to.
  • It’s not what you are, it’s what you think you are not that holds you back.  You have the capability and resources to do many things.  Use your resources.
  • Acquiring income producing investments is the key to financial wealth.  This is the biggest piece of financial advice I can give you besides stop buying things you don’t need.  Seriously, stop buying things you don’t need.
